Richmond Park Open Day

A family fun day out and an opportunity to learn how the Royal Parks manage this 1000h Nature Reserve.

Amongst the many displays, visitors will be able to admire the work of a blacksmith, a charcoal burner and hurdle maker and learn about sawmills and wood turning as well as willow basket making.

At the Holly Lodge Centre there will be activities for children, including face painting, pond dipping and a bouncy castle. Adults and children will be able to enjoy a Nature Trail Quiz, find out about bee keeping and meet a farrier and some shire horses.

For motor enthusiasts there will be displays of classic and modern tractors, classic cars, classic motorbikes and military vehicles as well as a fire engine.

Recreation groups and local wildlife groups will be featured and the programme will give details of a number of half-hour guided walks introducing visitors to some aspects of the Park's history and the wildlife it contains.

Refreshments will be on sale and a there will also be a picnic area. Entrance will be free but there will be a charge for parking at Holly Lodge Centre.
